Rep Weave is a basic Plain Weave using bulky mop yarn and thinner yarn alternating as weft. Students will design a simple profile draft for the design of the placemats. Warping two threads at a time will make warping go faster. In the end, students will take home a set of four, sturdy placemats.

About Us

We are Catherine and Deanna

Deanna has been weaving almost every day for over 40 years.  She as been teaching for over 30 years and has taught locally at the Salt Lake Weaver’s Store, Three Wishes Fiber Arts, Needlepoint Joint, and the University of Utah.

Deanna has taken classes from national and international teachers and continues to learn and develop her weaving skills.

In addition to her main pursuit of weaving.  Deanna also enjoys spinning, knitting, sewing, bobbin-lace, book-making, silk fusion, felting, kumi himo braiding and jewelry.  As Deanna says, there are more things she wants to do than time to do them.

Catherine: Learning to knit at age 10, I had no idea how important fiber would be in my life. Knitting, bead weaving, quilting, spinning, felting, and dyeing were all part of my life at one time or another until I finally settled on weaving as a focus. I took my first weaving class in 1985 in Midland, Texas. The next year we moved to New Jersey and I became immersed in the world of weaving guilds, conferences, and workshops. All this has led me to where I am now, co-founder of a weaving school and teacher of the most rewarding art in the world: weaving.

Catherine is an active member of the Mary Meigs Atwater Weavers Guild in Salt Lake City and past president of the Handweavers Guild of America.
