An intermediate class. Students should be able to warp a rigid heddle loom and weave simple plain weave. The class focuses on manipulated warp techniques, including: leno, clasped weft, Brooks Bouquet, and Danish Medallions. You will also learn finishing techniques: hemstitching, and twisted fringe.

The Gradient Dyeing Class is meant for beginning as well as experienced dyers. Each student will pick two colors to dye with and will dye 16 half ounce skeins with those colors. The final result is 16 distinct, but related colors. The yarn to dye and the dyes are included in the cost of the class.

Next to plain weave, twill is the most basic weave structure. By weaving a twill gamp, the weaver has a physical reference guide that shows how different threadings interact with various treadlings. This class is intense, designed to get you back to your loom, designing your own twill patterns.

Back-to-front is Deanna’s favorite way to warp. In this one-day class she will show all the tricks she has found and incorporated into her weaving practice.

If you are just getting back to weaving, have taken a beginning weaving class and are not sure how to move on, or, if you just need help with drafts, this class is for you. This is a great class to help you continue your exploration of weaving. We will answer your questions.

It happens to every weaver…broken or mis-threaded warp ends. In this class you will make a jig that corresponds with the measurements of your loom. You will see how, in a few minutes, you can make a heddle and get on with your weaving.

We’re having a party at the SL Weaving Studio!! Come celebrate art, camaraderie, and friendship with us. There will be door prizes. We will have equipment and books, some free, some for sale. And, we will have food.

Spend Saturday afternoon weaving the smallest of tapestries. We’ll weave on 2.5”X5.5” wooden looms that displays your tapestry when done. Using tapestry techniques you will learn, you may weave a symbol of the holiday, a star or tree, or just pick your favorite colors and weave an abstract design.
